A Castle Wedding

Today is the first monthaversary for the wedding of my beautiful wife and me. So it is about time we post some pictures of all Castle related things we used in our wedding.

Some of you might know, some of you not, so I'll tell in short how my wife and I got married because of Castle.

At the start of season 4 I decided to start a Castle fan site, as there wasn't any site that brought you all the Castle news. To promote the site and to talk to and meet fellow Castle fans, I started the twitter account you all are following right now.

As I was curious about the Castle fanfiction that was out there, I asked on twitter if someone of my followers back then wrote fanfiction. A very special girl replied she did.

First we started talking about Castle but slowly got to know each other better and better as we talked more and more. On November 24th 2011 I suddenly realized that I couldn't stop thinking about the awesome girl I met on twitter. In the weeks before that I even started to change my sleep pattern (as I lived in The Netherlands and she in the US there was a 9 hour time difference) so I could talk to her more and I didn't have to miss her too long when I or she went to sleep. And for some strange reason I still can understand, she liked me too.

On that November night (during a Dutch broadcast of en episode of Castle), we started a relationship.

In the time after that we talked even more and more and started to know each other very well and went on intercontinental flights to be able to meet each other for the first time in real life and later to spend more time together.

Some people think it might be fast, but at then end of my visit to the US in May 2012 I knew she'd be my one-and-done. We talked against the beautiful skyline of Seattle about our feelings and the troubles we would encounter if we moved our relationship on to the next level. But we both knew then that we couldn't live without each other anymore and decided to get married and start a long and expensive process, so I could move to the US and marry her. That process kept us apart for a long time (a few days short to a year), but luckily we were able to visit each other twice.

Then finally last June I got my visa! We were really happy, but a little bit stressed out too, as it meant that we had to get married within 90 days (according to the US laws). It were a busy couple of weeks, but somehow we managed to get everything just done in time for our wedding August 17th, 2013.

As Castle and the Castle fandom brought us together, we couldn't do anything else than use some Castle reference in our wedding. Below you'll find some pictures of Castle references (not all are show related, but they are still Castles and used because we love the show) we used:

First of all: My vows

These little cut out castles were lying ready at the entrance with this castle pen to sign (like a guest book)
From our great friend (@Dtrekker) we got these beautiful mugs as a wedding present
On our honeymoon we went to a Castle winery, where we came across this sign
This is the Castle winery
And another picture from the Castle winery (Castello di Amorosa aka Castle of Love)  in Napa Valley
Here some gigantic bottles used by the Castle winery
According to us the best wine ever: a dessert wine called La Fantasia
Our wedding cake
And our other wedding cake
What do the letters on the arch say...?
Lauren, thank you for being you. Thank you for being my wife. Happy Monthavsery!!!! May we be together for ALWAYS.
