15 Characters We Want To See Return On Castle

Senator Bracken (Jack Coleman) has returned to Castle in the season premiere, “XY,”. But he is not the only one who we would love to make another appearance on the show. During the past seven seasons there were many great guest star. That is why we made a list of 15 characters we want to see return on Castle, in one way or another.

Detective Slaughter

We kind of know that Adam Baldwin will reprise his role in one of the season 8 episodes of Castle, but he had to make the list. Baldwin did an amazing job in “Headhunters” playing a real jerk that everyone loved. Castle and Slaughter had a great chemistry going on, we are very much looking forward seeing again.

Chief Inspector Zhang

Chief Inspector Zhang (Linda Park) almost out-badassed Beckett in "Hong Kung Hustle." Almost. And it takes something to do that. Now there is a second series regular badass, in the shape of Toks Olagundoye's Hayley Shipton, the three could team up to make a - you guessed it - a badass episode.

I bet a lot of people wouldn't like to see Pi (Myko Oliver) back. But what if he would return as a killer? Or even better: as a murder victim?

During Beckett's short period working in D.C. Detective Sully (Joshua Bitton) was added to the homicide division of the Twelfth Precinct. After Beckett returned it didn't took long before there wasn't any trace of the sloppy detective anymore.

Castle’s Poker Buddies

We haven’t seen Castle‘s writers slash poker friends for quite a while now (except Michael Connolly in the season 7 finale). The group gave Rick some good and fun advice in previous episodes. We hope they will soon return to the poker table, maybe even with some fresh blood, as Stephen J Cannell passed away. How amazing would it be if J.K. Rowling suddenly would show up as Castle’s newest poker buddy?

Natalie Rhodes

In the episode “Nikki Heat,” Natalie Rhodes (Laura Prepon) played an actress who was following Beckett around to get insights for her role in the very first Nikki Heat movie. We would like to see her return, as we are dying to see a Nikki Heat movie.

Jenny Ryan

It is great to see the real life couple (Seamus & Juliana Dever) playing a couple on Castle too. There is no doubt about the chemistry between the Ryan's. We would love to see some of the woes that the Ryan's are getting through with raising Baby Ryan on the show.

Jim Beckett

Every time Beckett's father shows up in an episode, it promises to be an episode that tugs on our heartstrings. And next to that papa Beckett (Scott Paulin) might give us some insight in the life of a younger Kate too.

Castle’s Father

We have only have seen him in 2 episodes yet and don't even know his real name, so it is time we learn some more about Rick's father, who we only know by the presumable fake name of Jackson Hunt (James Brolin). For now it seems unlikely he'll return soon, as Brolin scored a role in the comedy Life in Pieces.

The scenes between Castle and Perlmutter are priceless. The perpetually cranky Perlmutter steals the scenes he is in. We can’t even express how much we like Lanie as the sassy ME, but we would love to see more of Arye Gross' Sidney Perlmutter. An episode where our favorite writer and Perlmutter would be stuck in an elevator could cause some great scenes.

Special Agent Jordan Shaw

Dana Delany's character made a big impression on us during the very first two-parter of Castle. FBI agent Jordan Shaw came to help Castle and Beckett solve the Nikki Heat-killer case. A new serial killer in season 8 would be an ideal plot point to bring back Shaw.

Fake Jenkins

In season 7, Rick dealt with him going missing. Fake Jenkins (Matt Letscher) had a lot to do with that. And we don't think the whole story of the missing two months has been told yet. That's why we want him back.

Gabriel Winters aka Captain Max Rennard

"The Final Frontier" was one of the funniest episodes of Castle. There was even an attempt to get the Nebula 9 show from the episode its own spinoff. Unfortunately that didn't happen, but some more of Ed Quinn's character on the show would be most welcome.

Captain Roy Montgomery

We know Montgomery is dead. But that doesn't make us want to see him back. A flashback, like in season 6's "Veritas" would be an excellent opportunity to bring the original Twelfth Precinct captain (Rueben Santiago-Hudson) back.

Captain Gates aka Sir

The news that Penny Johnson Jerald wouldn't be part of the Castle cast came as a shocker in the summer season. Captain Victoria Gates was a beloved character, almost as much Penny herself was among Castle fans. Luckily there are plenty of opportunities to bring back Gates in one way or another.

And an honorable mention to Royal

Which character would you love to see return on Castle? Who would you like to never ever make a return on the show?

Captain Founder, Administrator, Editor and Writer

The moment that I met you, my life became extraordinary. You taught me to be my best self, to look forward to tomorrow's adventures. And when I was vulnerable, you were strong. I love you, Richard Castle. And I want to live my life in the warmth of your smile and the strength of your embrace. I promise you I will love you. I will be your friend and your partner in crime and in life, always. - Kate Beckett The moment we met, my life became extraordinary. You taught me more about myself than I knew there was to learn. You are the joy in my heart. You're the last person I want to see every night when I close my eyes. I love you, Katherine Beckett. And the mystery of you is the one I want to spend the rest of my life exploring. I promise to love you, to be your friend, and your partner in crime and life, 'till death do us part, and for the time of our lives. - Richard Castle

  1. I don't count Montgomery, Gates, and Perlmutter as guest stars so the only mentions on your list that I'm on board with are Jordan Shaw, Jenny Ryan, Jim Beckett, and the poker buddies. In addition to those I would love to see the makeup ladies from "Cloudy with a Chance of Murder", the locksmith wanna be in "Love Me Dead", and the pick-up guys in "Till Death Do Us Part". They were all so much fun and really memorable.

    1. Good memory Annie. Norman Jessop (i.e. The Wordsmith) was freakin' hilarious in that episode. Beckett vouched for him (at Castle's urging) so he could get into locksmith school. It would be great to see him now as a locksmith looking to repay Beckett's kindness by assisting her in a murder investigation.

  2. Dana Delany for sure and James Brolin as well. Adam Baldwin is apparently already booked for an episode this season. I'm sure we'll see Gates and Jim Beckett again soon.

As for Pi and Sully...good riddance. Didn't like either character, especially Pi. Pi was just an irritating, unappreciative moocher that had no concept of the word "boundaries". There was nothing likable about his character whatsoever. Sully...why did they even both introducing him? He served no purpose and disappeared without a trace once Beckett returned.
